GR SIG Presentation and Discussion Session

Friday, May 12, 2023

Dear members of the NASA Gamma-Ray Science Interest Group,

We invite you to participate in a GRSIG online presentation and discussion session on Friday, May 12 2023 at 3:00 — 4:30PM Eastern Time (12 — 1:30 PT) on the topic “The future of gamma-ray astronomy”. The session will be hosted on Webex. Connection details are at the bottom of this email. The agenda of the meeting will consist of three 10-min presentations followed by a moderated discussion:

  • Lessons learned from the Advanced Compton Telescope (Steve Boggs, UCSD) [PDF]
  • Design and implementation of future gamma-ray missions: a co-design approach (Chris Fryer, LANL) [PDF]
  • Science capabilities of future gamma-ray missions (Jeremy Perkins, GSFC) [PDF]
  • Discussion: “Community efforts leading to future gamma-ray missions”

This will be the first of a series on monthly GRSIG meetings with the goal of outlining a community vision for the future of gamma-ray science and how future missions could support it.

Please help us by distributing this announcement to you colleagues and encourage them to sign up the GR SIG email list. We look forward to seeing you on May 12.

Best,

Eric Burns
Justin Finke
Manel Errando
