STROBE-X Splinter Session

The HEAD splinter session titled "The future of X-ray timing" will serve as the session devoted to the STROBE-X mission concept. The session will be held in the Queen's 5 room on Sunday 26 March 2023 at 12 noon Hawaii Time (6p Eastern).

STROBE-X would be a powerhouse for understanding time domain and multi-messenger astronomy in the X-ray band, with a wide-field monitor giving instantaneous good sensitivity coverage to 1/3 of the sky, and two pointed instruments combining for a collecting area more than 10 times as large as any previous X-ray observatory. The session will include the following talks:

Agenda

Topic Speaker
Focus on the Instrument Suite Paul Ray
Overview of the Science Case Tom Maccarone
Equation of State of Neutron Stars Anna Watts
Strong Gravity Around Black Holes Jack Steiner
Multi-Messenger Astronomy Jamie Kennea

People interested in joining the STROBE-X science team should contact Tom Maccarone at thomas.maccarone@ttu.edu.
