26 – 30 March 2023
The HEAD splinter session titled "The future of X-ray timing" will serve as the session devoted to the STROBE-X mission concept. The session will be held in the Queen's 5 room on Sunday 26 March 2023 at 12 noon Hawaii Time (6p Eastern).
STROBE-X would be a powerhouse for understanding time domain and multi-messenger astronomy in the X-ray band, with a wide-field monitor giving instantaneous good sensitivity coverage to 1/3 of the sky, and two pointed instruments combining for a collecting area more than 10 times as large as any previous X-ray observatory. The session will include the following talks:
Topic | Speaker |
---|---|
Focus on the Instrument Suite | Paul Ray |
Overview of the Science Case | Tom Maccarone |
Equation of State of Neutron Stars | Anna Watts |
Strong Gravity Around Black Holes | Jack Steiner |
Multi-Messenger Astronomy | Jamie Kennea |
