Advanced X-ray Imaging Satellite Probe (AXIS) Splinter Session

We invite the high-energy community attending the HEAD 20 Meeting to join us at a splinter session dedicated to the Advanced X-ray Imaging Satellite Probe (AXIS). The session will be held in the Queen’s 6 room on Sunday 26 March 2023 at 1:30p Hawaii Time (7:30p Eastern).

AXIS is a NASA Probe Mission Concept designed to be the next premier high angular resolution X-ray mission. AXIS will extend and enhance the science of high-angular resolution X-ray imaging and spectroscopy with ~10x more collecting area than Chandra, a large field of view (24' x 24'), and excellent spatial resolution (~1 resolution over a 15′ × 15′ field of view).

The session will feature a series of talks that will give an overview of AXIS, as well as the varied and exciting science that AXIS will probe, including:

Agenda

Topic Speaker
AXIS Overview Chris Reynolds; PI
MBH Growth and Evolution Adi Foord
Transient Science Mark Reynolds
Galaxy Evolution and Feedback Anthony Flores
Stars and Exoplanets Rodolfo Montez
Compact Objects and SNR Hui Yang and Noel Klingler
The AXIS High-Speed X-ray Camera Eric Miller
