Call for Experts: National Academies Committee on Astronomy and Astrophysics

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) are seeking experts to serve on the Committee on Astronomy and Astrophysics. The committee supports scientific progress in astronomy and astrophysics by advising the federal government on the implementation of decadal survey recommendations.

We invite you to submit your suggestions using this form by 30 April 2025 at 11:59p Eastern (8:59p Pacific).

Based on the Statement of Task and the continuing membership of the committee, we are particularly looking for expertise in the following areas:

  • Ground-Based Observations
  • Particle Astrophysics and High-Energy Phenomena
  • Cosmology
  • Compact Objects, Stellar Evolution, and Energetic Phenomena
  • The Sun, Stars, and Stellar Populations
  • Cross-disciplinary areas in Astrophysics (including multi-messenger astronomy, machine learning applications, and interdisciplinary collaborations)

Nominations will be used to fill four open seats on the committee in addition to collecting information for potential speakers and participants.
