The Astrophysics Decadal Survey Precursor Science (ADSPS, D.16) program supports research in areas related to the recommendations from the National Academy of Science and Engineering Astro2020 Decadal survey report, "Pathways to Discovery in Astronomy and Astrophysics for the 2020s" for 1) a large Infrared/Optical/Ultraviolet space mission to search for biosignatures from nearby exoplanets and to perform transformative astrophysics investigations, 2) a large Far Infrared mission, and 3) a large X-ray mission.
Originally generated from the Precursor Science Workshops, the science gaps list [PDF] has now been updated using community inputs and it is posted under other documents on the ADSPS NSPIRES webpage.
Proposers to this program element are encouraged to read the gap list, in addition to the current NASA Science Plan; the Astrophysics Roadmap; and the report of the Astro2020 Decadal survey. The due dates for D.16 ADSPS remain unchanged: mandatory notices of intent are due 29 March 2024, and proposals are due 26 April 2024.
