ULTRASAT Science Workshop

NASA is collaborating with Israel in the Ultraviolet Transient Astronomy Satellite (ULTRASAT) project, an Israeli-built near-ultraviolet imaging satellite with a 200-square-degree field of view and rapid target-of-opportunity response time. The collaboration will include a Participating Scientist program, giving US scientists the opportunity to work with ULTRASAT data within the ULTRASAT science working groups, including during any proprietary period. Participating Scientists will be selected competitively with details to be announced.

The Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel is holding their second ULTRASAT science workshop on 4-5 October 2021. The workshop is open to both remote and in-person attendance by interested scientists worldwide. This will be a good opportunity for US scientists to learn more about the spacecraft and some of its expected science investigations.

Further details of the workshop, including the registration link, can be found in the online workshop announcement from the Israeli ULTRASAT Project Scientist, Yossi Shvartzvald, and ULTRASAT PI, Eli Waxman.

Please address questions about NASA’s participation in ULTRASAT to the NASA Project Scientist, James Rhoads, at James.E.Rhoads@nasa.gov.
