The NuSTAR General Observer (GO) Program solicits proposals for basic research relevant to the Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR) Small Explorer (SMEX) mission, the first orbiting telescope to focus light in the high energy X-ray region of the electromagnetic spectrum (E > 10 keV), with an effective bandpass of 3 – 79 keV.
Proposals will be submitted in two stages, with Phase 1 focusing on the science goals and observation parameters. Selected Phase 1 proposers will be invited to submit a budget for Phase 2.
ROSES-2021 Amendment 40 releases revised text for NuSTAR GO Cycle 8. The default exclusive-use period for standard-mode and Large Program NuSTAR observations has been changed from one year to six months, some clarifications regarding the exclusive-use period have been made and miscellaneous minor clarifications and updates have been included in Table 1 and Sections 1.3, 1.3.1, and 2.2.1. The overall budget has been increased. New text is in bold and deleted text is struck through. The due date for proposals remains unchanged; Phase-1 proposals are due 28 January 2022, via the Astrophysics Research Knowledgebase Remote Proposal System (ARK/RPS).
