NASA and Department of Energy invite comments on joint High Energy Physics and Space-Based Astrophysics activities

NASA’s Science Mission Directorate and the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science invite interested parties to respond to this Request for Information (RFI) on collaborative activities that further scientific advances in high energy physics and space-based astrophysics, in support of their shared scientific goals.

This RFI is focused on three major areas, including scientific and technology benefits and obstacles and how each agency’s capabilities, infrastructure, and resources may be leveraged: (1) potential lunar surface missions on the far side of the Moon; (2) space-based probes of fundamental physics on the International Space Station; and (3) synergies in the use of data from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, and the Euclid mission.

Please note this RFI is not a Funding Opportunity Announcement, a Request for Proposals, or any other form of solicitation or bid for DOE or NASA to fund potential research and development work. The information received in response to this RFI will inform and be considered by the DOE and NASA program offices to identify potential partnerships and collaborative opportunities.

To find more information about the scope of the RFI, please refer to the Federal Register notice. To submit a comment, please use the “Submit a Formal Comment” button at the top right corner of the page. This opens an embedded form to fill out, where you can attach a formal response. Questions may be directed to Dr. Kathy Turner at HEP-APD-BPS-RFI2021@science.doe.gov. Comments are requested by 8 March 2021.
