Future Investigators in NASA Earth and Space Science and Technology (FINESST F.5) solicits proposals from accredited U.S. universities and other eligible organizations for graduate student-designed and performed research projects that contribute to the Science Mission Directorate's (SMD) science, technology, and exploration goals. The graduate student shall have the primary initiative to define the proposed FINESST research project and must be the primary author, with input or supervision from the proposal's Principal Investigator (PI) or mentor, as appropriate. The proposal must present a well-defined research problem/activity and a justification of its scientific significance to NASA. FINESST awards are research grants for up to three years and up to $50K per year.
ROSES-2022 Amendment 70 releases the final text and due date for F.5 FINESST. Notices of Intent are not requested. Proposals are due 7 February 2023.
An optional pre-proposal teleconference is scheduled for 13 January 2023, 2p Eastern/1p Central/12 noon Mountain/11a Pacific. No earlier than 15 minutes prior to the start time, call 1-256-715-9946. If prompted for a Passcode or a Phone Conference ID input: 360 678 47270. Restrictions may prevent the use of a free phone; telephones outside the U.S.; or computer software such as Skype. For U.S. TTY-equipped callers or other types of relay service no earlier than 15 minutes before the start of the teleconference, call 711 and provide the same conference call number and Conference ID.
SMD will post the teleconference charts no later than 12 noon Eastern on the teleconference day under "Other Documents" on FINESST's NSPIRES page.
