Welcome Francesca Civano; new PCOS Chief Scientist!

Please join us in welcoming Dr Francesca Civano, who will be joining Brian Humensky as joint PCOS Chief Scientist.

Francesca received her PhD from the University of Bologna in 2007, going on to work at the CfA in Cambridge, Dartmouth College, and the Yale Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (YCAA). Most recently, she has been the Lead of the Chandra X-ray Center Data Systems Operations group at CfA. She is interested in multi-wavelength surveys of the extragalactic sky to study galaxies and active supermassive black holes at their center (and not!), in particular the COSMOS and the NEP surveys. She’s received significant X-ray observing awards with Chandra and NuSTAR, and she is a member of the STAR-X and HEX-P science teams and of the Athena AGN working groups.

Francesca can be reached at francesca.m.civano@nasa.gov.
