Swift Cycle 19 Update on Joint Observations with NICER

ROSES-2022 Program element D.5, the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory General Investigator – Cycle 19 Program (D.5 Swift) solicits proposals for basic research relevant to the Swift gamma-ray burst mission. The primary goal of this mission is to determine the origin of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and use these bursts to probe the early Universe. Swift is also a valuable asset for obtaining multiwavelength images, spectra, and light curves on interesting Targets of Opportunity (ToOs) and other non-transient sources.

ROSES-2022 Amendment 23 adds to D.5 Swift a new joint observing opportunity with the Neutron Star Interior Composition Experiment (NICER) mission. Programs requiring the use of both observatories to meet their primary science goals may now be awarded NICER observing time directly through D.5 (Swift).

The due date remains unchanged: Phase-1 proposals are due by 4:30p/Eastern/3:30p Central/2:30p Mountain/1:30p Pacific on 22 September 2022, via the Astrophysics Research Knowledgebase Remote Proposal System (ARK/RPS).

Please direct programmatic questions concerning this program element to Mario Perez at Mario.Perez@nasa.gov, and technical questions to Brad Cenko at Brad.Cenko@nasa.gov.
