Release of Final text and Due Dates for ROSES Post-COVID Recovery program

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many members of the Science Mission Directorate (SMD) research and technology development community, especially early career researchers, are vulnerable to having their careers delayed or permanently disrupted. The ROSES E.10 Post-COVID Recovery program element exists to mitigate the damage of the pandemic and the response to it from falling disproportionately on early career SMD researchers, by providing the opportunity to request augmentations and funded extensions to existing research and technology development awards. This is the opportunity that was previously mentioned in NNH20ZDA010L, the Expression of Interest: SMD call for Augmentations and Funded Extensions.

As articulated in SMD policy document 36 "Augmentations and Funded Extensions in Response to COVID-19," the research of graduate students and post-docs has the highest priority, followed by that of non-tenured and soft-money early career researchers (within 10 years of their terminal degree). Proposals to this program element without any support for graduate students, post-docs, or non-tenured or soft-money early-career researchers are not eligible. The funding timeline specified is Federal Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 and FY2022, so FY2023 funds may not be requested. SMD cannot predict whether this opportunity will repeat for FY2023 and beyond.

Notices of Intent are not requested for this program element. Existing awardees may submit Post-COVID-19 Recovery proposals at any time until the final due date of 5 March 2021. Requests received by 4 January 2021 will be processed as a group. Requests submitted after 4 January 2021 but before 5 March 2021 will form a second group and will be processed together.

Interested parties with awards in Astrophysics should direct questions concerning this program element to Stefan Immler at stefan.m.immler@nasa.gov.
